Princess Kate just added another stunning pair of affordable earrings to her jewellery collection

She supported a small British brand at the BAFTA event

It looks like the Princess of Wales’ passion for affordable accessories is going nowhere. On Monday night the future monarch attended an event at BAFTA ahead of the launch of her Shaping Us campaign, alongside her husband, Prince William.

Princess Kate opted for one of her favourite designers, Alexander McQueen for the occasion, donning the brand’s Leaf Crepe Drop Hem Jacket in Welsh Red and matching Narrow Bootcut Trousers. The outfit is still available on Net-A-Porter, (although we predict it will probably sell out immediately.)

While the tailored outfit was on-point, we couldn’t help but be transfixed by her accessories. The royal wore a pair of affordable earrings, which come in at a modest £75 from Chalk. Chalk's collections are influenced by architectural elements, everyday objects and bold colourful cultural patterns. The Florence Earrings Kate wore hail from the brand’s ‘The Revival’ collection. The collection is the result of a collaboration between the Royal Opera House and Chalk. The jewellery is inspired by the ornate details and “regal forms” found in the ceiling of the Main Auditorium of the Royal Opera House.

Kate used the opportunity to champion the independent brand which was founded by practising architect Malaika who creates unusual, geometric, wearable forms. The fusion of her two passions give her jewellery a dynamic edge, and all the pieces are carefully handmade by Malaika.

Malaika studied architecture at the university of Greenwich and completed her qualification at Westminster University. It was here that she started to experiment with model making and creating jewellery. "Designer and maker Malaika has a passion for beautifully crafted design in all its forms, from the structure of large cityscapes to the intricacies of fine jewellery pieces," the brand explains on its website "Chalk's mission is to create stunning, sophisticated and fashionable jewellery which combines elegant architecture with high quality design to make you stand out and feel fabulous."
