Did Anyone Win the $65M Million Jackpot?
The latest Powerball lottery took place on Monday, February 28 and saw an estimated jackpot of $65 million up for grabs, alongside an estimated cash value prize of $43.3 million.
The regular white ball numbers for this draw were "07", "21", "39", "47" and "55". Meanwhile, the all-important red Powerball was "19".
A 2X Power Play multiplier was also in effect here, giving winners a chance to double their earnings if they paid an extra $1 when initially buying their winning ticket.

On February 28, not a single lottery entrant managed to guess all five white balls and the red Powerball, meaning that nobody got the grand prize. The unclaimed money will therefore roll over into the next draw on Thursday, March 3 (when the estimated jackpot will now be $73 million).

Of course, the jackpot isn't your only hope of winning money during the Powerball lottery, as there are nine other prize tiers.
On that note, one lucky New Jersey resident matched all five white balls (without the Powerball), netting them a sum of $1 million. This player did not opt for the 2X multiplier ahead of time and so could not double their winnings.
Elsewhere, four people managed to get $50,000 each (by guessing four of the white balls and the red ball). These players were spread across the states of Arizona, California, and Tennessee.
A total of 136 lottery entrants matched four white balls on their own, entitling them to a $100 prize. From this lot, 48 people doubled their earnings using the Power Play bonus.
In all, 315 players correctly guessed three white balls and the Powerball, meaning that they also got $100 each. From this group, 116 people paid for the multiplier and so boosted their winnings to $200.
As for the lower-tier prizes, a total of 15,637 participants got $7 (by matching either three white balls or a combination of two white balls and the red ball).
Finally, 173,426 won $4 by either matching a white ball and the Powerball together or just the Powerball on its own.
How To Play the Powerball Lottery
You can buy Powerball lottery tickets for $2. They are sold in 45 states, as well as in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In case you were wondering, they are not available in Nevada, Alaska, Alabama, Utah, or Hawaii.
After purchasing a ticket, you will then need to select six lucky numbers. Five of these will be for the regular white balls and can be anything between one and 69. The remaining number is for the special Powerball and is easier to guess because of its limited range (it must fall between one and 26).
The other important choice you have to make (besides which numbers you want to use) is whether to pay an extra $1 for the Power Play bonus. If you win a prize, then this multiplier will potentially increase your winnings by double, triple, quadruple, quintuple or even 10 times the original amount. Of course, if you don't win a prize then it will have no bearing or anything whatsoever.
The effect of this multiplier is randomly selected at the start of each draw. For instance, on February 26 the Power Play was set at 3X.
What Are the Powerball Prizes?
The amount of money you win in a Powerball draw is entirely dependent on how many numbers you guess right and in what combination. The criterion for each prize is listed in the table below.

As you can see, most of the Powerball prizes are fixed amounts that never alter. However, the jackpot money fluctuates in value based on how many tickets were sold and when the last person won.
If you win that grand prize, then you can choose to take it as either a lump sum or in annuity payments spread over 29 years. A similar option is presented to those who win the Mega Millions lottery.
