Philadelphia woman 'stabbed 80-year-old grandad 41 times'

Police in Philadelphia have arrested a 21-year-old woman who is accused of stabbing her 80-year-old grandfather 41 times and leaving his lifeless body lying naked in a pool of blood in their home.

Patricia Diocson turned herself in to the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit on Monday and was charged with murder in the grisly killing of Robert Girard last week.

On November 15, Diocson called police saying she arrived at the house she and her grandfather shared in the 2500 block of East Lehigh Avenue at 9pm and found the octogenarian lying dead in the kitchen.

There was a trail of blood leading to the man's second-floor bedroom and there were no signs of forced entry, or any evidence of robbery.

During the investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage from cameras overlooking Diocson's home and discovered that Patricia was the last person to enter the residence before police were summoned to the scene of the crime.

In addition to murder, Diocson was also charged with possessing an instrument of crime.

The 21-year-old woman lived with her grandfather and worked at a nearby grocery story.

When interviewed by detectives, Diocson reportedly claimed Girard was abusive towards her, but there was no word on the exact nature of the alleged abuse.

Neighbor Dan Martino told NBC10 he had never heard any arguments between the granddaughter and grandfather.

Girard was a US Army veteran who lost his wife, Diane, in January 2016. The couple had five children and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

‘He was a sweet guy. He did no harm to nobody. He would help somebody if they needed it. That's why I can't see how they did this to him,’ Pauline Cheeseman, who had been friends with Girard for 40 years, told Fox 29.

Old social media posts show Patricia Diocson happily posing up with her grandfather and her late grandmother.
